SMART BARN: Turn your Horses Home into a Technology Enabled Oasis

Turn your barn into a tech-enabled environment to increase the efficiency and safety of your horses.

I have all these technologies in my home today that control the lights, security and temperature through cameras and sensors which are all controlled from an LCD screen or my phone and I wanted to extend them to my barn.

Your house is smart, why not your barn?
So, what is next for Patrick you ask? “I have all these technologies in my home today that control the lights, security and temperature through cameras and sensors which are all controlled from an LCD screen or my phone and I wanted to extend them to my barn,” shared Patrick. “Being able to switch on the lights in the barn and see what the horses are doing thanks to the security cameras and having my compost unit speed cook my manure in 60 days saves a lot of time, money and worry.”

However, Patrick found the smart home concept wasn’t enough to make a smart barn. “I took many of the great features that are in The Equestrian App and remodeled them to work for any barn owner that not only has horses, but livestock and to hang it on the barn wall.” You can use a tablet that can control smart devices and it also helps you be more efficient in managing your barn and tasks. “How many times have you walked in the barn and forgot a task, or needed to look something up? Smart Barn is your go-to resource for those forgets,” explained Patrick.

Say good-bye to your White Board
With the Smart Barn app connecting to the same data that is in The Equestrian App – users love it, shared Patrick. “I’ve just released it but have already received emails and photos of people hanging their tablets in their barn that detail their training schedules. They also are replacing the old white boards they were using.” Your white board is history, by replacing it and connecting it to your equine calendar found in the app. “That’s a huge benefit because everyone is connected around the equine calendar. Several of the horse husbands love the equipment feature that allow them to track their maintenance of their tractors,” added Patrick.

Three Apps in the Stable
There is the Smart Barn App which is integrated with The Equestrian App and also ties with The Mounting Block App. All of your horses, contacts, calendar, equipment, tasks and more are shared between the apps using one email address.

Patrick Husting is a man with a mission. After a successful technology career including selling a tech company, he started riding only four years ago, built a new house and barn and purchased some horses. He soon became frustrated with the horse care apps and applied what he learned in the tech world to help him manage and track his horses and ended up creating a popular app called The Equestrian App. His mission, after 2 years now in the market and over 25,000 global members is to provide an easy to use - ‘smart app’ to help people help horses.

“I’ve even been invited to other countries to ride with customers as far away as New Zealand and Australia which was a lot of fun, all because of the app,” said Patrick. With several invites to other countries to ride horses with members of the app and when it is safe to travel again, he plans to make the journey.

FREE for basic – with Subscription Options
The Smart Barn app is FREE (tablet not included) and is an extension of The Equestrian App so there are varying levels of subscriptions provided for the app.

What’s on the horizon?
“I’ve been in the software industry for 30 years creating solutions for global companies, so I only know how to build things big and built to last,” said Patrick. There will be a whole new suite of equine apps coming this year and next that are all integrated together using the single sign-in. “I’m going to throw my apps around the entire equine industry allowing everyone to connect on the care and enjoyment of the horse,” he stated.
