Patrick Husting is a man with a mission. After a successful technology career including selling a tech company, he started riding only four years ago, built a new house and barn and purchased some horses. He soon became frustrated with the horse care apps and applied what he learned in the tech world to help him manage and track his horses and ended up creating a popular app called The Equestrian App. His mission, after 2 years now in the market and over 25,000 global members is to provide an easy to use - ‘smart app’ to help people help horses.
From living across the street from a premier Quarter Horse ranch, McCloud Quarter Horses as a young boy in Minnesota to building his own Quarter Horse ranch as an adult, Patrick Husting, software developer, Internet entrepreneur and horseman is on a journey to give back to the horse world by introducing a full featured digital horse care and community app named The Equestrian. “I’ve had a very rewarding career with creating and building businesses in the tech space to now afford to live a balanced and horse-filled life,” said Husting in a recent phone interview with The Tech Equestrian.
Spending much of his youth on a dairy farm in Vermont, Bob Valentine, creator of equineGenie, can’t remember a time he wasn’t around horses. Fast forward to present day, Valentine lives in Fort Collins, Colorado and has recently downsized his Arabian breeding operation. “The market is not like it used to be for Arabians, or many other breeds for that matter,” stated Valentine. The one demand that is starting to grow is the digital recordkeeping and better management tools for horse businesses.
